What is a Dermaroller?
The Dermaroller is a single-use CE-marked, sterile disposable medical device. It is used for skin rejuvenation, stretch marks and scar repair.
We use only genuine Dermaroller’s from Aestheticare.
How does The Dermaroller Work?
The Dermaroller medical device creates controlled micro-needle punctures of the skin surface.
As a consequence of the treatment, the skin’s natural repair process releases the body’s growth and healing factors that stimulate new collagen and skin cells to develop under the skin’s surface. The repair process can take six weeks to become visible and will continue for months after the procedure.
3 to 5 Dermaroller treatments, six weeks apart, are needed to achieve the optimum results.
Acne Scarring Treatment
The Dermaroller is gaining increasing popularity, especially for acne scarring.
You need 3 to 4 treatments for a 50-80% improvement.
Acne scarring can also be improved by Fraxel, chemical peels and subcision.

We have also seen some good results on facial and décolleté lines and wrinkles.
Stretch Marks
Stretch marks also respond well to treatment with the Dermaroller – a great treatment after pregnancy.
Is the Dermaroller Treatment painful?
The Dermaroller procedure can cause temporary pain, although it is normally less painful than alternative facial medical regeneration procedures. This is normally controlled with a topical anaesthetic cream.
What is the Recovery like after a Dermaroller Treatment?
Immediately after the Dermaroller procedure, the skin will be red, resembling mild to moderate sunburn. As the skin naturally heals, the redness will resolve. The skin usually settles after a few hours but can remain red for 3-4 days after a Dermaroller treatment. Many people can return to their normal activities the next day.
Dermapen Aftercare Information
We recommend using the skin care provided by Dr Teri Johnson after the procedure.
- Avoid all sun / UV exposure
- Wear very high sun protection for at least two weeks after the procedure
- Use SPF 50 or higher with stated UVA and UVB protection daily
- Dr Teri recommends Heliocare
To enhance results, you can use a home Dermaroller. This does not go as deep and therefore does not cause as much trauma so it is safe to use in between treatments.
