Dermal Filler Side Effects

Common side effects from Dermal Filler treatments include:

Bruising, swelling, redness, tenderness and slight bleeding at the injection sites. Most of these effects will disappear almost immediately or over 24 – 48 hours. Bruises, however, can last a week or slightly longer if you are unlucky.

Very Rare side effects from Dermal Filler treatments include:

  • Migration – When the filler can move away from the intended treatment area
  • Allergy – This can be an acute anaphylaxis reaction or a delayed reaction.
  • Nodules – The filler may form lumps under the skin
  • Infection
  • Vascular Occlusion – This occurs when the filler blocks or puts pressure on a blood vessel which can lead to tissue death (necrosis), and even possibly permanent blindness.

Fortunately, side effects are rare, however, if a side effect were to occur after a Dermal Filler treatment with Dr Teri Johnson, she will provide aftercare advice and treatment.

Dr Teri attends regular training for the management of adverse effects caused by all her treatments including Dermal Filler Complications.

She has up to date protocols for the management of the possible adverse reactions and also keeps the necessary equipment in her clinic should a problem arise, so she can manage them appropriately and safely.
